Muscle
Shoals Electric Board is proud to be a part of the energy
right Residential Programs. Not only will these programs
save you money, they will result in a more comfortable and
energy efficient home for your future.
You've seen the yellow Energy Guide on major electric appliances.
They're a part of a product labeling program established
by the Department of Energy and the Federal Trade Commission,
and are designed to help you control the costs by providing
energy consumption information on all comparable models.
The annual operation cost shown in bold on the Energy Guide
is based on the national average electric rate. But, electric
rates here are among the lowest in the country - 6.175 cents,
compared to the national average of 8.3 cents - over 30%
lower than the national average!
So remember, the yellow sticker is only a guide. Here,
in Muscle Shoals, when you choose safe, efficient electric
appliances, you'll be saving over 30%!

Dual Fuel Systems
A dual-fuel heat pump is a new alternative to conventional
gas heating/electric cooling systems. It combines an electric
heat pump with a gas furnace, either in a single package
or separately. By combining the two, the result is that
the heat pump provides the heating in the milder weather
when it is more economical and efficient than a furnace,
and the furnace takes the place of the usual electric resistance
supplemental heating.
New homes installing dual fuel heat pumps are recognized
as "all electric" homes. All other appliances
must be electric in order to qualify for incentives. However,
gas logs are allowed.
